Vilnius Metro is a non-governmental organization that is popularizing the idea of a metro in the capital of Lithuania. The city of Vilnius does not yet have a metro; our goal is to educate the populace about the benefits of metro systems. We work with academics and scientists, who help us to provide information, and participate in conferences about public transportation. We have a great interest in metro systems and other means of public transport. Already we have visited many European cities that have metros and we are continuing to visit more. Our visits are organized by embassies of the Republic of Lithuania. On these research trips we are also accompanied by municipal authorities who are responsible for the public transport of Vilnius. We are the only non-governmental organization in Lithuania working to install a metro in Vilnius.
